illustration and some explanation

It’s been a bit, hasn’t it? I’ve been thinking a lot. (I will make a proper post about all that later, this one is meant for art) I’ve started a new novel (it’s sort of a secret project, and very exciting) though I will still be jumping back to Lunan every once and a while, don’t worry. I’ve really started to realize certain things that I do aren’t good- I’m on this mini journey to better myself. It’s hard though, being so aware of your shortcomings, fighting so hard to escape them. I hope I can grow and grow and grow. I don’t want to be this way forever.

I’m really trying to delve back into my art and my writing. I want to really learn while I’m still relatively young- I don’t want to waste this passion I have. I’ve been forcing myself to draw things I don’t usually draw, like houses and furniture, which is hard, but also exciting. Here are a few little illustrations I’ve been working on.

Pictured below is a sort of self portrait. Everyone who sees it immediately looks at me with this look of, is that supposed to be you? You draw so weird. My sister said it was all cheeks, no lip.”  It’s a bit exaggerated I suppose but I feel like it captures my current essence.

As you know I am a very sleepy, dreamy person. I really love drawing people who are sort of in the middle of their own world, especially if they are dreaming.

And below is an extremely crappy four minute sketch of a house. I’ve been trying to exercise my drawing muscles by picking something and just scribbling it out as quickly as I can. It’s pretty therapeutic.

Below is the main character for my new novel, Gabriel Wistfaun! He’s a very abstract, sort of withdrawn boy with very vivid dreams and visions. He’s similar to me in a lot of ways, and the story is a lot about his relationship with his parents and their marriage. It’s much more interesting than it sounds, I promise. It’s also fantasy and extremely strange and dramatic, but what else would you expect from me? 😛

Below is a picture of Gabriel, Beau and Kalare. (His parents) Although they aren’t really together for the beginning of the book…this is sort of like his dream for their family.

Anyways, that’s all for tonight. ❤
